5 delivery pizzas in Prague ranked, plus tasty recipes for homemade pies

Restaurants of up to 2,500 square meters opened in Prague and throughout the Czech Republic on Monday, April 27, including a few of the smaller pizza restaurants in the capital. And while quarantine days may be winding down, many of us will still be relying on delivery for some time to come.

Whether you order in a fancy pie or get inspired to make your own, pizza is the ultimate delivery food. We recently tried five pizza delivery places in Prague (and also put together two recipes for homemade pizza). Here’s how our results stacked up:

Pizza Hut

The good – Pizza Hut is a global chain with a big menu of pizzas, chicken wings, salad, and drinks. Fast delivery from their app or website in English.

The not-so-good – Our pizzas were low on cheese and toppings, so you might want to customize with more of each. It lacks the “handcrafted” taste.

Our rating ???

360 Pizza

The good – Affordable pizza with lots of creative pies, or create your own with 5 to 15 toppings. You can even order a Nutella pizza for dessert! Fast delivery via Wolt or order it to bake at home from Rohlik.cz.

The not-so-good – Although highly rated on Wolt, our experience was not great with a soggy crust and skimpy, low-end toppings.  Not much flavor to these pies.

MANÚ Praga

The good – Large delivery menu, unique pizzas with high-quality toppings, outstanding chewy-crisp crust. This is what pizza should taste like. A favorite pizza in Prague for dining in, we are pleasantly surprised that these pies hold up to delivery.

The not-so-good – Expensive for the size. Prices range from 205 CZK for a simple Margherita to 325 CZK for tuna. There’s also a delivery fee and we hope you are tipping, too. It adds up to a splurge during these COVID-uncertain days.

Le Pizze di Frankie

The good – Lots of varieties, from a 14-cm pizzella to the 25-cm Neapolitan style pizza to a crunchy-pillowy focaccia pizza. Honestly, everything on Frankie’s delivery menu sounds delicious.

The not-so-good – Our pizza arrived well-boxed but cold. Needed a quick re-heat.

Our rating ????

AAA Pizza

The good – Tomato- and cream-sauce based pies, lots of toppings to choose from, and more affordable than comparable pies. We ordered two pizzas with an extra topping each, and with delivery and tip the total was less than 500 CZK.  

The not-so-good – Our pizza arrived about 10 minutes late but that was due to Dame Jidlo delivery. The restaurant called us to tell us they were waiting for the driver and apologized for the delay, which we appreciated.

Homemade Pizza

Made with ingredients ordered from Kosik.cz.

Pesto Pizza

  • Stretch homemade or store-bought dough over a baking sheet
  • Sauce with pesto
  • Sprinkle a mix of fresh mozzarella, 45% eidam, and Czech salt-brined cheese
  • Top with your favorite salami
  • Bake at full blast (250°C) for 10-12 minutes until cheese is bubbly

Homemade Focaccia Pizza (inspired by Frankie)

  • Start with a pre-baked homemade or store-bought focaccia loaf
  • Layer with thinly sliced green olives and white onion 
  • Bake at medium-high heat (220°C) until onion tips get crisp
  • Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce
  • Top with slices of fresh mozzarella
  • Broil to melt the cheese

The good – We chose our toppings and piled them on without feeling the pinch of extra charges. The pizzas came out hot, tasty, and ready to eat. Also, the flat smelled amazing so bonus points for jealous neighbors.

The not-so-good – We didn’t support a small business. This Czech-owned delivery company falls somewhere between an international franchise and locally-owned small business on the consumer spectrum. Also, we had to wash dishes.

Between delivery and homemade, we are calling it a tie.
