About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Design Engineer in Test to join us as one of the founding members of our new engineering team in Prague. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead for our automation framework, test results reporting, and overall quality strategy. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in the United States, working across a 7-hour time difference to ensure seamless communication and delivery.

You will join a small, growing team currently consisting of one engineer and a lead, with plans to expand. This is a unique opportunity to shape the testing and quality practices from the ground up, directly influencing how our testing platform is built and maintained. What You Will Do:

  • Own Mobile Automation, including mobile automation framework, automation development and execution, test execution, and reporting.

  • Work in an agile environment using Scrum or Scrumban methodologies

  • Participate in manual testing activities when needed (bug bash, exploratory testing)

  • Collaborate daily with developers to understand system changes and ensure comprehensive test coverage

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different time zones and teams

  • Lead quality initiatives from planning and design through work breakdown, implementation, and ongoing maintenance

  • Monitor emerging trends and innovations in testing and quality engineering, implementing improvements where appropriate

  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning

  • Contribute to test results reporting and quality metrics to drive visibility and accountability

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in Test or a similar role

  • Extensive hands-on experience and deep technical proficiency with mobile automation frameworks such as Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest

  • Proficient in Flutter Driver and Dart with hands-on experience in automated testing

  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript for test automation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Strong knowledge of software quality methodologies, testing strategies, and the software development life cycle

  • Basic understanding of CI/CD principles and practices

  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud

  • Experience with Playwright or a similar framework

  • Familiarity with cloud-based device testing platforms (SauceLabs, LambdaTest)

  • Ability to work until 7 PM CET regularly to overlap with US-based teams; otherwise, flexible working hours

  • Experience working effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams

  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a collaborative manner

  • A proactive mindset with a passion for quality and continuous improvement
