For the school year 2026/2027, BASIS Prague International School is seeking a full-time English Humanities Subject Expert Teacher for Levels 1 – 2 (children from 5-7 years of age).
The English Humanities course combines teaching English literacy skills with humanities topics to create real-world connections. By utilizing interdisciplinary experiences, the students develop their English skills while deepening their understanding of themselves, their communities, social relationships, natural phenomena, and cultural traditions. The students acquire English systematically and purposefully, using the language as a tool to explore, interpret, and engage with the world around them.
At BASIS Prague, all lower-level core courses are taught with 2 teachers present in the classroom: a Subject Expert Teacher (SET) and the Learning Expert Teacher (LET). The SET specializes in teaching one of the disciplines: Math and Science, English Humanities, Engineering, Fine Arts, Czech Humanities, etc., and the LET spends the entire school day with his/her grade level, making sure the students understand the material and providing pedagogical and emotional support.

Responsibilities:
teaching the English Humanities course,
teaching our proprietary Phonics curriculum, designed for non-native English speakers (within the English Humanities courses),
actively collaborating with the LETs to provide a supporting learning environment,
utilizing expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide group or individualized instruction to meet the differentiated needs of students,
with the help of LETs, establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom,
supervising students and ensuring safety and well-being,
creating progress reports, accurately grading and recording student work,
providing academic interventions for students who need extra support,
helping students learn and develop socially and emotionally by providing good examples, emotional support, and a compassionate attitude; helping students resolve conflicts.
Requirements:
legally entitled to work in the Czech Republic
university degree in elementary education, English or a related field
fluency in English, at the level of a native speaker
commitment and enthusiasm for working with children
experience working in a primary school or with children
effective time management and prioritization skills
collaborative and creative mindset, with an affinity for problem-solving
strong passion for the development and education of youth
