Sherlock`s

If you think that you may have heard the name The Sherlock’s Pub before, well elementary. Pubs like this, by the same name, exist for many years now in England, the United States and also in Ostrava in the Czech Republic and right in the heart of Prague’s center – Bartolomejska Street in Prague 1.

Which brings us right to the most amazing thing about Sherlock’s. Their humongous menu, which consists of over 200+ mixed drinks, 70+ varieties of distills, 10+ kinds of beers (trust me, a rarity in this town) and of course their enticing selection of delicious food which includes tasty morsels such as nachos with homemade salsa, juicy roast beef, a good choice of salads and even some lovely desserts.

But of course, before anything else, Sherlock’s is a pub and bar and their choice of mixed drinks is quite admirable and easily beats out most of the other bar menus in the area. Some of the drinks are home made specialties, thought up by the master mixers themselves. I took the liberty of trying out some of these home made specials and I must say I was quite impressed by all of them. You are sure to find something that meets your heart’s desire. And if it’s not enough that this pub offers so many mixed drinks, I think you will be pleased to find, that with the exception of just a few high end cocktails, all drinks are less than 100.- CZK…also a rarity these days in Prague.

And if all of this isn’t enough to entice you, I do declare that The Sherlock’s Pub has one of the friendliest staff in this city, which of course is something coveted and unfortunately hard to come by in today’s Czech Republic. Lots of smiles, lost of jokes and a relaxing, laid back atmosphere.

The décor at Sherlock’s Pub is also something to speak of. A split level pub with paintings one after another which reflect the days of Sherlock Holmes in old England. The two most celebrated pieces hang in the center to greet all customers, are quite large, and of course are of Sherlock Holmes himself and his trusted assistant Dr. Watson. But that isn’t all. From this room you have a view of the courtyard of the famous Prague Convict. A bit of history in a building that has stood since the 17th Century. A nice cool breeze comes in from here as well. And then there is the most coveted of all the Sherlock’s rooms, the leather bound VIP room, full of big comfy brown leather sofas, which on most days is accessible to all who enter the pub but can also be rented for private parties to host any sort of engagement that you desire.

Another fine reason to visit The Sherlock’s pub is their world class satellite system where one, or many, can come and enjoy a game from any of the world’s major leagues such as the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB or any world football league. The VIP room would be just perfect for a game with the boys and or with the girls. Anyway you look at it The Sherlock’s Pub is all that a big city establishment should be and also has much of what is missing in this big city at the moment. Friendly and helpful staff, good food and good drink is sure to be a mix that will create a great experience for you. So come and visit them today. They are open daily from 5 PM to 4 AM in Bartolomejska Street 11. I’ll be sure to visit again and so I hope to see you there real soon.
