Did you know that Japanese curry is very popular in Japan?
It’s said that curry was first introduced to Japan in the late 19th century, at the beginning of the Meiji era. The original version of Japanese curry dates back to the British Empire in India, which has evolved in its own unique way to the present day. The curry full of flavour from spices is very different from the well-known traditional Japanese cuisine, but it has such a strong popularity that it can be described as a national dish.
In Japan, curry is popularly known as 'curry rice'. As the name suggests, it is a combination of curry and rice that is served together.
While more upscale restaurants serve sophisticated curry rice, there is also a variant of curry rice that is popular as a home delicacy, to which each household adds its own favourite ingredients.
We opened Curry Us in the hope that the people of Prague will enjoy Japanese curry, which is not yet well known abroad but is very popular in Japan.
We invite you to come and taste a different kind of Japanese food than traditional Japanese cuisine!
