Using a recognized home test kit and a video call with a healthcare professional, the Czech company Doktor na telefon s.r.o. now offers online Covid-19 testing that meets international requirements and can be used for travel within the EU.

The Online Testing website is currently available in Czech, English, and a number of other European languages.

Those interested in online testing must first purchase a recognized home test kit (also sold through the website) and a voucher to access video testing with a healthcare professional. Health workers available through the video call are provided by MUDr. Tomáš Sochor and SochORL, based in Písek.

No prior registration is needed, but the test must be conducted within the company's operating hours, Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

After entering your personal details and going through the test with the healthcare professional, the results will be entered in the relevant Czech database and can be accessed through the Czech Tečka app, available through Google Play or Apple's App Store.

If negative, the QR code provided in the Tečka app is recognized throughout the EU, and can be used for travel and other purposes where a negative Covid-19 test is required.

The online test voucher costs 199 crowns, and the site also offers a voucher with a single home test kit for 230 crowns.

While testing centers are readily available throughout the Czech Republic, and a number of tests each month are covered under public health insurance (at the moment), those on holiday abroad will often need to pay out of pocket if a test is required for return travel to the Czech Republic.

"In Croatia, for example, when ad hoc requirements for tourists change and require a negative test from passengers on RegioJet, online testing is the way to deal with it right away," RegioJet spokesperson Aleš Ondrůj stated in a press release provided by Doktor na telefonu.

"It's simple, functional and our clients praise it."

Doktor na telefonu, the company behind the online testing, has long sought to improve the available options for telemedicine in the Czech Republic. According to the company, their solution for online Covid-19 testing is among the first in the world.

"Technically, we have not encountered any problems yet," says Doktor na telefonu CEO Marek Chatrný.

"We are currently working on the technical improvement of the service in terms of our ambition to handle even greater service capacity."

More information about the service can be found through the Online Testing website.
