Prague’s Manifesto Market debuts special Christmas edition

Looking for a different kind of Christmas market in Prague?

With some of Prague’s top food vendors and local artisans occupying containers at Manifesto, the venue garnered high praise in no less than the New York Times, who called it “a provocative and bold combination” that pushes “for the innovative use of Prague’s cityscape while stimulating the senses.”

And later this week, Manifesto will reopen once again for another holiday-themed treat: a special winter edition of the market that will provide an indie/artisan alternative to Prague’s popular Christmas markets.

What can you expect to find at Manifesto Winter Market?

Twenty different food stalls will offer up a variety of seasonal treats that include some of the best of what Prague has to offer. They include Italian chef Matteo de Carli, who will bring years of experience from Cipriani in NYC and Dublin’s Four Seasons to Prague and debut a lobster aquarium at Manifesto.

Other food items prepped for the Manifesto Winter Market include seasonal favorites like mulled wine & hot cider and roasted chestnuts & almonds to go along with less-typical holiday fare including Vietnamese pho and seafood specialties.

To really get into the holiday spirit, guests at the Manifesto Winter Market will also have the opportunity to roast sausages and marshmallows over an open fire while Christmas carolers and DJs provide some live music backdrop.

“Our main attraction will be special transparent heated bubbles which some visitors might have experienced in London and NYC’s rooftop cafés,” says Manifesto founder Martin Barry.

“We will continue allow people to enjoy outdoor spaces in the city during every season and bring people together. That’s one of our missions at Manifesto. Because it’s colder, we have changed the experience to enjoy the city just like we can in Quebec or Paris under the warm glow of infrared heaters and fires. This fall or winter, you won’t need to go to Krkonoše mountains or the Alps to roast a sausage on an open fireplace. You can do it with us at Manifesto.”

Manifesto Winter Market will be officially inaugurated this Thursday, November 21, and operate through December 23. The market will again reopen in Spring 2019.
