Czech Republic #3 in Aggressive Driving

A recent poll finds Czech drivers the third-most aggressive; UK road rage tops the chart

A recent survey of over 3,000 motorists across 20 countries found that the Czech Republic has the third highest rate of aggressive drivers. The UK was found to have the highest rate of aggressive drivers, with France coming in second. Germany and India followed the Czech Republic at 4 and 5, respectively.

The survey, conducted by the Dutch vehicle management company LeasePlan, measured driver aggression in each country by asking motorists if they had experienced verbal aggression, aggressive gestures, or been blocked in the road by other motorists.

In the Czech Republic, 40% of drivers reported experiencing verbal aggression, 70% reported aggressive gestures, and 72% reported being blocked in the road. Here’s the full tally for the top five countries:

The survey didn’t only cover aggressive behavior, however. The Czech Republic rated second behind France in the rate of driver distraction, with 29% of motorists texting or using social media while driving. The USA, India, and the UK reported the lowest rates of texting and using social media while driving. 

On a more positive note, the Czech Republic ranked lowest (along with Greece and Spain) in commuting time to work, with motorists reporting a one-way travel time of less than 30 minutes. Average travel time to work across the 20 countries was 50 minutes; drivers in Portugal and Brazil spent over 90 minutes travelling to work.
