The results of an annual survey ranking expat quality of life are in; Prague has moved up three positions

The annual InterNations/Expat Insider survey is in.

Billing itself as the “the largest expat survey worldwide,” it is a quality-of-life ranking that reveals what expats have to say about the living standards in their home away from home.

This year the Czech Republic moved up three spots in the index, from #10 to #7, surpassing Finland, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Canada. Taiwan finished first.

Some 14,300 people representing 174 nationalities and living in 191 countries or territories, were asked to rate 43 different aspects of life abroad (leisure options, travel and transport, health and well-being, safety and security, and personal happiness) on a scale of 1-7.

A country needed at least 50 respondents to feature in the index.

The final score is meant to be a reflection of quality of infrastructure, health care, access to education, cost of living, and work opportunities.

The Czech Republic was praised for its good health care for children and high-quality and affordable education. It scored high in leisure options (#28), health and well-being (#15), safety and security (#19) and, in travel and transport, placed #4 in the world.
