Hello everyone!
I've been teaching (American) English here in Prague for companies such as Siemens, AFI Europe, Škoda, etc. and am looking to add more students.
My background is in IT and IT Project Management. I worked until late 2023 as a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst. Previously, I worked as an Application Systems Administrator in a large law firm in the US. Prior to leaving I worked on a two-year project to replace my company's financial system and have some knowledge of both legal and finance terminology.
That being said, my classes are fun. I find it almost universal that one of the biggest stumbling blocks for English learners is fear or shyness. My students laugh and enjoy themselves. I'm very good at creating a light-hearted environment where students feel ok to make mistakes.
My classes are also creative. For one of my students, we studied interviewing for several weeks and then he had a practice interview with one of my former managers back in the U.S. and he found the experience invaluable. I have many professional contacts who would be interested in doing mock interviews with my students. But this is just one example of what we can do - I'm happy to sometimes play games in English, turn favorite TV series into lessons, work with poems to highlight stress patterns in English, etc.
I speak French and German at the B1/B2 level and have completed the A1 level of Czech (and am continuing...) and definitely find that helpful in teaching my students and in knowing some of the common errors French/German/Czech students might make.
