About the Role
The Biology Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality Biology lessons across the secondary phase, ensuring excellent standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
The successful candidate will:
Deliver inspiring Biology lessons to students across Lower and Upper Secondary.
Design engaging learning experiences that develop students' scientific knowledge, practical laboratory skills, critical thinking and investigative abilities.
Track, assess and support student progress and attainment.
Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
Plan and deliver practical laboratory sessions in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Contribute to curriculum planning and the continued development of the Science Department.
Support the academic and personal growth of students.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents and students to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
This position would suit a teacher who is passionate about Biology, scientific enquiry and international education.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate:
Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE, BEd or equivalent teaching qualification).
At least one year of teaching experience.
Experience teaching Biology within a secondary school setting.
Knowledge of the British curriculum and educational framework.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
The ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and challenging lessons.
Experience delivering practical laboratory work safely and effectively.
Strong organisational skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Experience
Advantageous experience includes:
Experience teaching within the Cambridge International curriculum.
Experience preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE and/or A Level Biology examinations.
Experience organising science-related projects, STEM initiatives, educational visits or extracurricular activities.
Experience using assessment data to drive student progress and attainment.
Experience contributing to curriculum development and departmental improvement initiatives.
Experience preparing schools for inspection or accreditation processes.
