The number of people without work in the Czech Republic is climbing at its fastest pace in years, a change that is beginning to reshape how and who companies hire.

By the end of last year, the unemployment rate had risen to 4.5 percent, up from around four percent a year earlier. That translates to more than 354,000 people registered as unemployed, one of the highest figures in nearly a decade, according to Labour Office data.
