My name is Tony. I was born, and grew up, in the centre of London. I have a modern RP accent, which means that I am easy to understand and can teach you similar pronunciation to make you easily understood too.
I've lived and taught in Prague for the last 6 years. I have travelled extensively, lived in ten countries, and have enjoyed experiencing different cultures to my own.
I am relaxed, patient, and interesting to talk to.
Some students use my services to keep their English current, while other students have been able to upgrade or change jobs as their English has improved, which is one of the concrete benefits of studying with me.
I teach different types of classes, depending on what you need English for. I teach one-on-one lessons, or pairs, or groups. I teach online as it allows me to offer early and late classes as well as during normal working hours.
TYPES OF CLASSES
CONVERSATION LESSONS
Many of my lessons are conversation lessons. There are always things to talk about and I'm happy to provide news articles or other materials if you want me to. At lower levels, I think that the most important thing is to be able to talk, listen, and understand (i.e. vocabulary and pronunciation), but if you are at a higher level (B1+), I will work with you on your grammar and vocabulary too.
BUSINESS LESSONS
I've worked for large companies and also run my own IT company so can help you with meetings, emails, presentations, and other subjects such as management styles and job interviews.
TECHNICAL LESSONS
As well as general business, I have a lot of experience with Information and Communications Technology, and have taught ICT and aviation-related courses. I'm a bit of a nerd and definitely a techie so I'm happy to help with any other specialty.
EXAM PREPARATION LESSONS
I teach mainly Cambridge exams: PET (B1) / FCE (B2) / CAE (C1) / CPE (C2) and also IELTS. I have taught other exams but have most experience with the Cambridge/IELTS exams. My last two students who took exams scored 95% on the CAE and 96% on the FCE.
My students get high scores because, as well as teaching English, I teach how to add those extra points by using certain methods to increase your score.
PROOFREADING/CORRECTION
I do this for my students because they ask for it. I will correct emails and presentations during our scheduled lessons, or, for an additional charge, can offer a same-day service, usually within two hours of your email.
It's always good to have someone check your emails and presentations, as I can fix small mistakes immediately and can use our normal lessons to teach you the correct way to write if your grammar is not perfect.
