Project Syndicate is seeking a highly organized, relationship-driven Development Officer to support and grow two essential revenue areas: major gift philanthropy and grant and partnership fundraising and management.
This role is ideal for a motivated self-starter who is goal-oriented, excels in donor and partner stewardship, and brings strong project management skills to a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Major Gift Philanthropy (PS Friends Fund)
Support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors and prospects in key markets (primarily the UK, USA, and France).
Maintain prospect pipelines and lead lists, ensuring accurate tracking and timely follow-ups.
Conduct prospect research to identify new major gift opportunities
Prepare donor briefings, background research, and meeting materials for the CEO, the PS Advisory Board and PS Friends Fund fundraising committee.
Coordinate donor meetings, calls, and follow-up communications.
Provide strategic and administrative support to the CEO to advance donor relationships and campaign goals.
2. Grants & Partnership Fundraising and Management
Support the full lifecycle of partnership and grant development—from prospect research and outreach through contracting, reporting, and relationship management.
Assist in the development of proposals, concept notes, pitches, SOWs, MOUs, and partnership agreements.
Maintain organized records of partner interactions, deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
Coordinate meetings with sponsors, institutional funders, event partners, and other stakeholders.
Track leads and follow-ups to ensure consistent stewardship and timely communication.
Oversee the creation and updating of sponsorship decks, presentations, and other fundraising materials.
Qualifications & Skills
3+ years of experience in development, fundraising, grant/partnership management, or related roles.
Demonstrated experience supporting donor cultivation, stewardship, or fundraising campaigns.
Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft clear and compelling materials.
High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and comfort with external-facing work.
Passion for public-interest media and mission-driven organizations.
