We went with some friends to Indian Jewel, which is located very centrally in this beautiful square behind Tyn Church at Old Town Square. We were greeted by this girl who was very helpful and with a ready smile and spoke fluent Czech as well as good English. The food was excellent! We ordered some Tandoori Starters which the cook made in the open tandoor in the restaurant and we could see him. For the main course we ordered Lamb Roganjosh,... read more

The Indian Jewel was a good Indian Restaurant with better than average Indian food, but of late, the Chef has changed and now their Chicken Tikka Masala is nothing more than chicken in tomato soup! And their Biryani is more like a gulas with more tomatoes than rice!

We, The Gentlemen's Curry Club, Sompting, England, visited Prague for an annual 'Curry Weekend'. Three of us are enthusiatic curry cooks using authentic spices & recipes and not commercial products. We all agreed that it was the best Indian food we have tasted ( including, sadly, our own !! ) in 30+ years. The breads are a must !!! The evening was completed by informative, professional and very friendly staff. If there is anywhere better,... read more

Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere

From food to atmosphere over friendliness and service, this restaurant is excellent. The dishes are absolutely delicious, true to traditional Indian cuisine. They are also extremely well suited to a European clientele, because they are only mildly spicy while still retaining the deliciousness of this great cuisine. The breads are a league for themselves. Everything from Naan to Roti bread is made in the in-house stone oven and tastes... read more

Didn't scratch my curry itch...

Reviewed by miss_merlot 29.05.2009
Lovely atmosphere, friendly service, good samosas, nice wine, beautiful presentation - and yet still didn't sate my craving for a proper curry, as the mains were just too bland for my taste... As delicately made and nicely presented as the food was, I'd still stick with Rana every time for a decent spice fix at much less of the price.
