New Christmas Market to Open at Prague Castle

The first ever advent market on the castle grounds will be held in the courtyard of St. George’s Basilica

The original Prague Christmas markets allowed people to stock up on food, warm clothing, and other items necessary for the survival of winter.

This year merrymakers can relive those medieval days of yore when Prague Castle opens its first Christmas market.

Taking place in the courtyard of the St. George’s Basilica, with access from U Prašného Mostu Street, few details are currently available about the number of participating vendors and food sellers involved in the market. But organizers are promising a “high-quality range of carefully selected, good old fashioned Czech products.” Live entertainment is also planned.

The Prague Castle Christmas Market will be held from November 28 to January 3 (opening hours are 9:00 to 21:00). For more details, visit www.trhynahrade.cz.
