Czech Tourism has just released visitor statistics for the Czech Republic, including the country’s 15 most-visited locations.
The stats reflect locations where admittance is recorded (and usually paid) like the Castle and Petřín Funicular, which came in second with 1.5 million visitors.
More general locations like Old Town Square would likely feature at the top of the list were visitor numbers approximated.
You might expect Prague locations to feature heavily on the list, and you’d be right.
But would you guess that the Vitkovice Steelworks and Landek Park in Ostrava saw over a million visitors in 2015, making it the fourth-most visited locale in the Czech Republic last year?
Zoos also feature heavily on the list, with Prague Zoo coming in at number 3, and Zlín, Dvůr Králové, Ostrava, Plzeň, and Liberec zoos also ranking among the most-visited locations in the Czech Republic.
With just under 1 million visitors, Aquapark Prague might also be a surprise on the list at number 5, sliding in ahead of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzeň.
