Police have ended their search for a 54-year-old bank manager from Prague who had been missing since the end of March. The man was found “without signs of life” on Sunday evening, according to the Czech Police.

Very few details have been disclosed and the preliminary cause of death was not made public. Due to privacy laws, his name or other identifying details cannot be published.

“During the examination of the body, no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death were found," Prague police spokeswoman Violeta Siřišťová said on Monday. She thanked the public for their help in the search.

The man disappeared on March 27 from a Prague psychiatric hospital where he was being treated. CNN Prima News reported that he had found himself in a difficult situation, without providing further details.

After going out for a walk from the hospital, he went to his home in the Prague 4 district and left a message that caused people to become concerned that he might be planning to take his life, news site Novinky.cz reported.

He then left his residence apparently in possession of a legally owned rifle and drove off in a silver Mercedes Benz. Police asked the public for help in finding him and released a description and a photo, adding that he did not seem to pose any risk to anyone but himself. The photo has now been removed from the police website since the search is no longer active.

According to media reports, he was a high-ranking bank manager and had worked for ČSOB Private Banking for over 21 years. The bank declined to comment to the tabloid Blesk on the situation.
