Job description:

The Student Services Manager plays an integral role in student life at AAU and serves as a liaison between students, the Student Services Center, other student services staff and the Dean of Students. This full-time position reports to the Dean of Students.


  • Supervise Student Services Center operations and staff. Assure delivery of accurate, timely and consistent information to students with outstanding customer service.
  • Supervise Career Center staff and functions; ensure quality of service and expand offerings to meet student needs.
  • Supervise Housing Assistant. Work with Housing Assistant to research housing options, resolve student issues and maintain accurate information on the AAU website.
  • Ensure availability of services for new students before and at arrival: new student orientation, student handbook, new student guide, etc.
  • Collaborate with Dean of Students to implement and assess First Year Student Success program (orientation, visa assistance, mentoring, advising, workshops/seminars).
  • Oversee the activities of Student Council (review reports on activities, ensure the budget is spent in line with guidelines). Evaluate effectiveness of student activities and implement strategies to increase participation and satisfaction with campus life.
  • Provide support and guidance to Student Council and other student clubs and organizations.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to organize University-wide events (e.g. Annual Ball, Graduation Ceremony).
  • Oversee University mentoring program in cooperation with Student Council.
  • Collaborate with Dean of Students to implement new student services such as Financial Aid office.
  • Liaise with Academic Tutoring Center and Psychological Counselor and encourage students to use these services.
  • Ensure accuracy of student services related content on AAU website.
  • Collaborate with Dean of Students to expand and ensure success of existing student services such as mental health counseling.
  • Coordinate mass emails to students on non-academic issues; maintain bulletin boards


  • English language proficiency required, Czech language proficiency preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma required. 
  • 2 years of prior work experience in a college/university setting preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple large projects at once.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Responsible, reliable, well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, student-centered.
  • High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
  • Strong PC skills i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook.


The new Student Success Manager should plan to start work on or near December 2, 2019.
