Job description

The Student Loans and Scholarships Manager will establish the federal student aid program at AAU, provide customer service and guidance with student aid programs, educational funding options, and the financial aid application process. Oversee the awarding of scholarships and answer student questions about eligibility.  This position reports to the Dean of Students. This is a part-time position with the possibility of becoming full time in the future.


  • Perform student financial aid file review. Verify application information and assess the validity of documentation including the review and correction of student aid report. Package and award student financial aid in accordance with institutional and governmental policies and regulations.
  • Monitor and verify Satisfactory Academic Progress at the conclusion of each semester and academic year. Adjust aid accordingly.
  • Review return of title IV calculations
  • Monitor enrollment and withdrawals and handles appropriately.
  • Answer student and family questions about aid and program eligibility.
  • Complete enrollment verification before origination and disbursements begin for the semester.
  • Maintain updates on student portal and document communications with students.
  • Send electronic mailings out for incomplete for packaging, incomplete for disbursement, have not accepted aid, exit counseling reminders, etc. on a weekly basis in accordance with current policies.
  • Demonstrate an attitude of quality “customer service” to students and families. 
  • Present information related to financial aid and AAU to various audiences. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures which ensure the successes of all functions of the financial aid awarding process.
  •  Develop a communication plan for students and families through each step of the financial aid process. 
  • Work closely with the Bursar’s Office to communicate current practices for student bill payment. 
  • Coordinate communication with Admissions, Student Services and Marketing. 



  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • English language proficiency required, Czech language proficiency preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of financial aid experience in a college or university setting.
  • Ability and willingness to process and maintain information that is often ambiguous and highly confidential.
  • Excellent word processing, excel, spelling, filing, reception and other general office skills. Strong reading, writing and math skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new computer programs quickly.
  • Ability and willingness to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility, accuracy and a good sense of humor are required!
