What you will be doing:Project management
Defines, documents and carries projects or sub-projects, alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to the success of the project. Agrees on project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans and tracks activities.
Service acceptance
Engages with project management to confirm that products developed to meet the service acceptance criteria and are to the required standard. Feeds into change management processes.
Configuration management
Maintain secure configuration, applying and maintaining tools, techniques, and processes to identify, track, log, and maintain accurate, complete and current information.
Change management - Assesses, analyses, develops, documents, and implements changes based on requests for change.
Relationship management - stakeholder engagement/communications plans
Pre-Sales Participation
In terms of managing the activation of the services, the Service Activation Engineer contributes to the Pre-Sales process by partnering with the Service Architect to understand the client’s requirements and to design the required activation plan that will ensure optimal service activation.
Resource Management
Identify resource requirements for the activation and negotiate for the use of the resources. During the execution of the activation project, they act as a matrix manager to the resources by providing guidance and resolving issues. The Service Activation Engineer will also liaise with the manager of resources allocated to him or her to discuss and address people-related issues.
The Service Activation Engineer will compile baseline budgets for activation projects and manage and report against signed-off budgets.
Transition Management
The Service Activation Engineer is the point of escalation for the activation project and will take responsibility for resolving or owning the resolution of all escalated issues. All complex issues will be escalated to the Service Transition Manager. Manage risk and minimise potential failure by planning and coordinating testing, training, and change management activities.
