A Day in the Life

Working as part of the Global Pricing Forecasting Center of Excellence (FASP COE) is essential in our role towards our customers & patients and our commitment to the Medtronic mission to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life. As a Data Scientist, you are part of a team that is responsible for the forecasting prices that eventually drive the financial planning process and determine where MDT should invest in product innovation.


Your main responsibility is to own the Pricing Engine that runs the forecast ASP (average sales price) process. You will work in a quantitative environment, analyzing the quality of forecasts at detailed level and reviewing user inputs for quality and consistency. Your technical work will support the COE Price Forecast Analyst that run the reviews with the pricing strategists in the businesses and regions. You will need to understand the needs for further enhancements in review screens and reporting, search for solution and develop them in collaboration with IT.



  • Run, Test and correct Quantitative Price forecasts
  • Understand the complexity of Pricing environments and the end-users' concepts, and find ways to connect forecasting models to reality and to the review process
  • Consolidate / Review User Inputs / Pre-Load analysis
  • Define & prioritize user-interface enhancements, working with IT
  • Gather and evaluate new sources of data for quantitative forecast

Must Haves

•               Technical mind, experienced with Predictive Analytics

•               Strong attention to details and accuracy and can-do attitude with continuous improvement

•               Experience in drawing and framing logical conclusions

•               Problem solving & decision-making skills

•               Ability to work under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality or accuracy

•               Team player with curiosity, proactivity & passion for data analysis

•               Fluent English (written and spoken)

•               Fluent MS skills, especially Excel & PowerPoint

•               Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, IT, Mathematics or equivalent

•               Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


Nice to Haves

•               Experience working in a Multi-national environment and/or working in a project-oriented team

•               Knowledge of Programming, SAP, Business Object, databases incl SQL

•               Experience with Visualization tools (Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI)

•               Experience in the Medical Device Industry
