Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to developing the PK12 vision for Music at ISP;
  • Develop and plan music courses, in alignment with the Learning@ISP, ISP music standards; departmental philosophy and ISP mission;
  • Establish and maintain a positive student-centred learning environment;
  • Design, organize logistics and directmusic performances;
  • Monitor students’ skill growth and conceptual learning development, reporting according to the school’s standards-based guidelines;
  • Actively collaborate with other PK12 Music Teachers and other colleagues in planning and facilitating student performances;
  • Differentiate teaching for a range of children’s musical strengths and interests;
  • Participate in and enrich the school musical life of our community;
  • Lead, help organize and collaborate on co-curricular activities as well as musical components of major school events such as Cabaret, whole school Winter celebration etc;
  • Incorporate general music learning into the band / instrumental classes;
  • Liaise as needed Help to coordinate private instrumental sectionals and lessons.

Knowledge & Skills required

  • Model of musicianship through own musical skills and performances;
  • Strong, unwavering drive to innovate and enhance musical programmes;
  • A high level of intra and interpersonal intelligence and the ability to work effectively in collaborative environments;
  • Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative process with a diverse range of people;
  • An avid learner and seeker of how to support children's musical strengths and interests;
  • Knowledge and understanding of instrumental musical development in children and adolescents;
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of a broad range of musical genres and traditions;
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and learn music with an inquiry stance;
  • International teaching and learning experience;
  • Commitment to, and enthusiasm for, working with the middle and upper school age group;
  • To be legally entitled to work in the Czech Republic.

Education & Experience

  • BA (MA preferred);
  • Teaching certification or equivalent in music / band;
  • A minimum of five years proven track record in teaching instrumental music.

The position is offered for a definite period: from October 2020 until June 2021.
