This expert is expected to have serious impact on IT governance in his field of expertise. That includes long term technical vision and/or strategy, mentoring, advertising and solving disputes. If the specialty is of mixed business and IT character, the expert is not only expected to handle IT governance but also facilitate business discussion and participate in product management with strong insight to both technical and business aspects of the problem.

 

The Technology Expert oversees all key aspects of the technical environment in each particular field and keeps the infrastructure in-line with all requirements, such as infrastructure standards, component capacity and performance needs. They must also watch Product Roadmaps compliance, apply and maintain security compliance, implement infrastructure and operation improvements, etc.


Experts are in charge of:

1.    approving or authorising all new projects/application placements (might be applied when a significant change in infrastructure is made for a current application)

2.    initializing change when component capacity might be rebalanced to sustain future growth with resources in place

3.    raising an request when component capacity must be adapted to the future need (organic trends and future projects must be considered)

4.    initiating change when any technology or infrastructure component is obsolete, or unnecessary, or running out of support, or hardware must be decommissioned

5.    initiating changes when the deviation is recorded

6.    monitoring all projects that involve infrastructure changes and/or capacity and augmentation and tracking budget requirements including all aspects

7.    being informed and/or consulted about Problem Management

8.    organising and assessing surveys and analyses in order to suppress unintentional behaviour (SPoF, bottlenecks, services outages, etc.), initialise operational improvements and pro-actively mitigate critical incidents.

 

Main requirements are:

1. Ability to dive deep into different technical issues and never give up :)

2. Hands-on experience with Unix, Middleware, Databases (preferably Oracle) or

   experience in architecture with hands-on excitement.

3. Great communication skills and ability to work both alone and in large teams.
