Lead Teacher

For the school year 2025/2026, BASIS Prague elementary school is seeking full-time elementary school teachers or teaching enthusiasts to become Lead Teachers for Levels 1 – 3 (children from 5-10 years of age). At BASIS Prague, all core courses are co-taught by 2 teachers per classroom: a Lead Teacher (LT) and a Subject Expert Teacher (SET). The LT spends the entire school day with his/her grade level, making sure the students understand the material and provides pedagogical and emotional support. A Subject Expert Teacher (SET) specializes in teaching one of the disciplines: Math and Science, English Humanities, Engineering, Fine Arts, Czech Humanities, etc. The Lead Teacher take the SET role two times a week to lead a project-based class. Start date: August 4, 2025. Campus: Prague 4, Podolí.

Responsibilities:

• co-teaching curriculum content to students of a specific grade level and leading them through classroom transitions during the day,

• collaborating with the SET to provide student support,

• utilizing expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small group instruction to meet the differentiated needs of students,

• establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom,

• supervising students and ensuring safety protocols are met,

• creating progress reports, accurately grading and recording student work,

• providing interventions (individual lessons) to students,

• helping students learn and develop socially and emotionally by providing good examples, emotional support and a compassionate attitude; helping students resolve conflicts.

Requirements:

• legally entitled to work in the Czech Republic,

• university degree in elementary education or a related field,

• fluent in English,

• commitment and enthusiasm for working with children,

• experience working in a primary school or with children,

• effective time management and prioritization skills,

• collaborative and creative mindset, with an affinity for problem-solving,

• strong passion for the development and education of youth

Preferred skills:

• teaching experience with the target age group (5-10 years old)

• knowledge of the Czech language

Who we are:
BASIS Prague elementary school offers comprehensive education from preschool to high school graduation. Its goal is to educate students to the highest international level with a spiraling math and science, digital learning, liberal arts, and bilingual curriculum benchmarked to the best education systems in the world. The elementary school is located in Prague 4 (Podolí) and is intended for children in Levels 1–5 (age: 5–11). The higher Levels will open in the following years at our Prague 6 (Bubeneč) campus. BASIS Prague elementary school is a seamless continuation of BASIS Prague Preschool, our international preschool serving our early learners (age: 3–5) located in Prague 6 (Břevnov).
