About us

Delayed flights, cancelled flights and missed connecting flights are an inconvenience for any passenger. Unfortunately, they happen all over the world and for all sorts of different reasons. In such cases, passengers are protected by EC Regulation 261/2004. This air passenger rights regulation, introduced in 2004, dictates the compensation passengers are entitled to receive from the airline if their flight is delayed or cancelled.

Principally, EU 261 applies to all flights that start from airports in the European Union. In addition, it also applies to flights that land in the EU if they are operated by an EU carrier.

For delays of 3 hours or more on distances of 1,500 kilometres or less, you can claim up to £200*. If your flight is delayed by 3 hours or more and the distance is between 1,500 kilometres and 3,500 kilometres, you are entitled to a refund of £325**. And if your flight is delayed by 3 hours or more and the distance is more than 3,500 kilometres, you can claim up to £490***. All this applies provided the delay or cancellation was not caused by extraordinary circumstances (such as strikes or extreme weather, for example).
