Does anyone know anything about the town of Přibyslav, half way between Havlickuv Brod and Zdar nad Sazavou on Hwy 19? My wife and I are looking at a house there and wanted to know anything we could find out about the area.

Please let me know.

Also, will be posting in Visa/Relocation, but anyone have any advice for buying a house here...especially about the process...the roles played by the seller, the realtor, the lawyer(s), the buyers? Any ideas about finding inspectors (geological, structural, utilities, etc.)?

Thanks!!!

i was there a month ago, so maybe you've visted since.

it's a tiny place with a bank, a couple of pubs, shops, etc and a famous film club. You'll certainly get the 'stranger in town treatment', but it won't be hostile, especially if your wife is Czech. a friend informs me that it is also famous for its' yoghurt!

The countryside around is beautiful, so get a bike, pair of boots and enter.

i spent a few months in Hav. Brod in 1999 and loved it. Very friendly locals, altho rather partial to the booze.

Nearby is legendary Lipnice - where Hasek wrote Svejk. in the summer they have an awesome festival there.

west of Pribyslav is Zdar - very nice town.

Hi
Don't know much about the town/village you are looking at, but certainly know the situation with regards to buying a house in Czech. We bought a house in the Rakovnik area about 1 year ago.We are both UK citizens and had to go through all the legalities etc.If you need any advice or help on this matter, please email me.
The process can be daunting, but with good advice from solicitor, and a good building firm,it is certainly worth the hassle.
Good Luck and persevere.

Greetings from a place near Bezdez..You can do most of the inspection process yourself..Look for cracks in the structure or new recent stucco repair and bulging walls...Structural problems are hard to recognize and easily masked..Best form of information is ask old ladies/men that live around the house your interested in..People in small towns know everything about everyone..And about contractors!!...Dont assume you'll get the best deal or service from them..They only organize labor and most often pay their workers 5-8000kc...The best thing to do especially if you will be there is to deal directly with the workers..It will take a little time to find good people as everyone will claim they are a "zednik" (stucco worker) or whatever..I recommend you dont buy a project house unless you are a handy guy and know the basics of construction and have a lot of time to invest...You will save a lot of cash if you buy something "po rekonstruce" (after reconstruction) BELIEVE ME!!...I am thinking about starting a business consulting foreigners on the entire process of buying/reconstructing houses here in czech..I have lived/worked on my house for 3 years and could fill a book with what i have learned these last 3 years..Especially about restoring historical buildings...Lots of little tricks how not to get reamed/ripped off..and how not to destroy history..Good luck..Jeff M

Hi I intend to buy a house near Prague, that house does belong to a company(a.s.). We saw that on internet with the lowest price of 4mil. They will have an auction day at the end of Nov. When I did contact the owner (not the auction company), the owner said he can get for me for 4.5mil without auction if I agree to give him a bonus extra. If anyone has any idea about that? I am afraid that they have some trick to get my money. What I have to do in order to know who really has the power to sign in the contract in this case?
Thanks
