Sounds like what you bought was something they may have put "mexicka omacka" on or something. Don't buy that stuff. I don't think you are going to get anything of quality here unless you buy something imported (or at least something that has imported prices). Best thing to do is to buy a can of chipotle peppers, jalapeno peppers (both found in Tesco), and some paliva paprika (hot paprika). With that, lemon, lime, tomato, cilantro (koriandr), avocado (avokado) and tortillas (chips or wraps) you are well on your way to making 90% of the mexican food that will be available to you. For pinto beans, and the like, I would suggest any of the bio stores, as they often have good bean selection.

I have yet to come across chilli powder (the darker brown powder that is more bitter than spicy), nor tomatillos, which probably would be astronomically priced.

There is one specialty latin food shop near Viktoria Zizkov field that might have some odd things you can't find elsewhere, but I have lost the link to the website. (help anyone??)

am making taco salad tonight. mexican seasoning from a packet, ground beef, chips from Hypernova that taste just like Cool Ranch Doritos (and are only 35kc for a big bag!), avocados and the Bio Yogurt Kasse from Interspar which tastes as close to Monterey Jack as anything I have found (it's not exactly but it's close )

Cantina is great, Amigos isn't bad --- think Hombre's should be arrested for passing off the crap they have (see the other thread about Mexican food).

Cantina is good, but the sweet corn in the burrito throws me every time I eat there. I just don't expect it, authentic or not.
