Julius Meinl stocks an excellent 2002 Cabernet-Shiraz by Australian Bush for 104 Kc - very good for everyday drinking. It also stocks an absolutely foul (with a capital F) Spanish red for 39 Kc that I wouldn't offer to a wino.

A recently opened winestore stocking predominantly New World wines is www.bestwines.cz, Jaromirova 61, P2 (under Nusle bridge). Best to call them in advance because I went there a few months ago and they were shut (strange opening hours as the owner DJs on the side I believe - usually open 09.00 - 17.00, Mon-Fri).

Very good selection of wines at reasonable prices (Catena, Peter Lehmann, Mondavi, Casa Lapostelle...).

Coco, the Chilean wine is Gato Negro (black cat). Pretty decent, although I'll stick my neck out and say that the Australian Bush is better VFM, esp. if you like powerful, full-bodied reds.

Still can't believe the price either!

Final tip in Praha 6:

http://www.vinoteka-praha.cz/

They stock among others (wait for it):

- Norton, Argentina (VFM label, esp. their Malbec)
- Rosemount Estate, Australia (excellent Shiraz)
- Concha y Toro, Chile (good Cab. Sav, Chardonnay & Merlot)
- Buitenverwachting, S. Africa (very good at everything)
- Cloudy Bay, NZ (Sauv. Blanc, Pinot Noir)
- Baron de Ley, Spain (arguably the best Rioja out there in terms of VFM)
- Torres, Spain
- Robert Mondavi, USA

OMG, I think I know where I'm heading next to spend my hard-earned hellers...

I can also recommend http://www.topvino.cz. It's an internet-only wine shop, so you can't go rummaging around through the shelves, but they have a great selection of French, Italian and Spanish wines, plus Cattier champagne (yum!). They will deliver too!
