Man, I wish they'd taught seven foreign languages at MY high school....but NOOOOO we had to be content with German, Spanish and French....oh and Latin...so let's see....in Kal's school that means they taught Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese as well. Eight semesters in high school, so he took a semester each of 7 different languages...man, we HAD to take two YEARS of ONE language.

Don't forget that Kal also speaks Armenian! Remember Avim, the adjutant who flew in from Tel Aviv after Kal was promoted to Kolonel? According to the photo credits to the two-part Expres piece on Kal getting his head shaved, Avim was the guy wielding the camera. On the YouTube footage of The Haircut That Would Change History, you can quite clearly hear Avim's voice piping up from behind the lens ... speaking absolutely flawless Czech! Given that Avim reached a standard of such linguistic excellence within a few short months, while Kal - who has been here for years - can't even muster enough Czech to tell his hairdresser to "keep the change", I'd say it's Avim who should be the Colonel here.

Anyway, Kal insists that Avim hails originally from Armenia, and that on his reality TV show, we will hear the Great Man rapping with Avim in Armenian.

You patronising buffoon, Korff (page 9 - http://data.zpravy.cz/expres/pdf/20080219.pdf):

This answer is for Pavel,
who comments about how
Czechs choose their President.
Q: “I hate the system here in
the Czech Republic. Although I
am very pleased President Klaus
won, it made me wish us Czechs
could just vote for him directly.
Do you think we are stupid be-
cause we cannot?”
A: Hi Pavel, thanks for writing
and asking about this.
To be honest, NO ONE is “stu-
pid” here. Czechs now live in a
DEMOCRACY, so if Czechs are
“unhappy” that they cannot vote
directly for their own President,
then this means that enough
Czechs have NOT BOTHERED to
change their own political system.
You get what you elect, period!
If even 10% of you bothered to
sign petitions to change the sta-
tus quo here, you COULD!
Since YOU, the VOTERS, control
WHO ultimately gets elected to of-
fice, you CAN change your system
in a Democracy any time you wish!
Those who do NOT bother vot-
ing have no “right” to complain
about who wins in an election.
Democracy is like fitness or
any good marriage, you get out
of it what you put into it.

Wise political veteran Kal writes:

And this is so true in the current case. Only members of parliament were allowed to vote. NOT mere citizens.

So if those whiny citizens don't vote just because they cannot, well they should freakin shut up already.

As always, Kal explains and enlightens us all.

Do we really not have anyone who is Czech (or with access to a compliant Czech) and who can simply point these things out to the publishers in their native language each time they arise ?
