Václav Havel - Photographs 1988-2011

The exhibition is held in remembrance of Václav Havel on the occasion of half a year that will have passed since his death on June 18. Some 100 photographs from the years 1988-2011 show the path of playwright and dissident Václav Havel to the post of president of the republic and then back to his activities as artist and citizen. It does not only feature Havel´s presidential acts, but rather moments accompanying them or moments of concentration, or on the contrary, relaxation after tension he experienced as a statesman.

The pictures taken by 24 Czech photographers who worked as photo reporters with the CTK agency over the past more than 20 years, allow the viewer to see the scene of high politics as well as Havel´s private life without the usual pathos, with a slight exaggeration and humour. The authors believe that this is precisely the type of exhibition that Václav Havel would like.
