My date and I enter in too late for lunch, too early for dinner, and find the establishment in a quiet, almost meditative state, with only one other couple eating, and quickly leaving the place, and the attention of the staff all to ourselves.
I am a huge fan of Indian food in general, and while I am by no means a foodie, I have eaten enough Indian food in my life to know what´s good and what´s not. I inquire whether they are affiliated with Tikka Tikka in Prague 1, close to Narodni, and they say yes, but the food here is a little different as their cook is from Dehli.
Bring it on.
We start off with soup. She has tomato ginger, I have the chicken soup. Awesome. 10/10, we both agree. In fact, she is willing to go back there just for the soup. And I have sampled all their soups, you cannot go wrong.
There is a pause, and I ask her about the décor and ambiance of the place. “Average,” she states. The lights are too bright and harsh for her in terms of an intimate dining experience. I still see the attention to detail that they give, and the cleanliness of the place (which is of course very important) so I like the ambience a little more.
For a main course, I have Lamb Birayani, and her the Palek Paneer. It is different than other biriyani I have had, but the taste is absolutely scrumpcious. I give it a 9.5. Her Palek Paneer (spinach) is also really good, I give it a 9 on the taste scale, meaning I would be thrilled to have it again.
She tastes my food and gives both mine and hers an 8, which is a pretty good score coming from her considering she´s not overly fond of food that´s spiced. She doesn´t even like dressing on salad.
Look, I had a good time there, the staff is nice, they brought a bill out printed and didn´t overcharge us (unlike some places here in Prague when they do the happy dance when tourists speak English), and the service was very good, but above all, despite being relatively simple food, it tastes so fricking good, and that´s from someone who knows his Indian food.
So, yeah I recommend the place, and definitely give it a try.
Also, to show you this is a real person writing this, I invite you to take a look at my Travel Adventure Stories here, and find out more about the Czech Republic and Prague.
