The French firm of BELVEDERE SA, which has also been active on the Czech market since 1991 under the trademarks of Belvedere and Vins de France, invested on entering the Bulgarian market in 500 hectares of vineyards in the southern wine-growing area of the Thracian Lowlands, which it is further expanding.  

In Bulgaria the company is one of the largest and fastest developing wine companies. The Thracian Lowlands represent 35% of the total area of Bulgarian vineyards and are famous for their red wines of the types Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. This region, thanks to its geographical latitude (Rome, Barcelona, Porto), is distinguished by the largest number of sunny days in the year, and the soil is well supplied with moisture and nutrients. The grapes are harvested at a sugar-content of 24º and more.
