The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) is one of the youngest faculties of the Charles University in Prague. The main goal of the Faculty is to promote education and research in the key fields of social sciences: economics, sociology, political science, international relations, area studies and media studies.

FSS emphasizes the development of foreign cooperation with the prospect of strengthening scientific bonds, student and pedagogic mobility and by offering English language study programmes as a second mainstay of the Faculty.

The Faculty of Social Sciences currently offers one fully accredited Bachelor's degree programme in English and nine fully accredited English-language Master's degree programmes, giving students a new opportunity to obtain their degree from one of the oldest universities in Europe.

Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences are intended primarily to prepare students for a professional career in private sector, public administration, national governments, European institutions, academic research or the media.

Currently, the Faculty has around 4 000 full-time students, approximately 500 of them are foreigners from all over the world.
