When I planned visiting Japan, I bought Japan Rail pass here.
It takes just a few minutes for me to get the pass.
Staff are so nice.
There are some special interested tour to Japan so if someone would like to visit Japan someday, I will recommend this package tour.

- "NTS in Prague = ripoff"

Before someone at Expats.cz gets their underwear in a knot, I have backup on every single part of this "review".
I was booking a trip to Japan (just returned 27-7-08) using NTS. It was to be a 3 week trip.
When the agent didn't return emails or calls for almost a week, I started looking up info on the internet. NTS (in Prague) was charging as much as 90% over what the correct rates for the various hotels they were booking.
Example: a japanese inn in Takayama... I booked it for 2000kc with breakfast AND dinner. NTS Prague invoiced 3800 with breakfast ONLY.
The worst part is that they are the ONLY AUTHORIZED agent for the Japan Rail Pass in the Czech Republic.
You MUST buy this pass from outside of Japan. The correct price for a 14 day pass is about 6000kc. NTS Prague invoiced 8661kc (which is MORE THAN THE 21 day pass).
Now, the entire company is not bad. I actually contacted NTS in Vienna, and when I related the information above (and more), they were appalled. NTS Vienna charged me the correct fees for the Rail Pass and I had them book a few hotels and obtain tickets to the Sumo Tournament for me in Nagoya. I also met a number of people along the way from Denmark, Sweden, etc who booked their trips with the local branches.
In short, NTS Prague is terrible. However, if you contact their office in Vienna, you'll receive fair pricing.
