Å vandovo Theatre in Smichov is the modern European culture centre of performing arts.

Its repertoire is constituted mainly by productions of established artistic troupe and also by other productions, which are dividing to the periodic programme cycles addicted to various genres and events of performing arts. To reception of the Å vandovo Theatre as culture centre conduces also fact, that it is regularly providing space and rear to new rising independent groups and projects in the frame of Alternative Culture cycle. Å vandovo Theatre is also offering possibility to meet celebrities of Czech, European and world art in the Stage talks cycle. Wide range of concerts of classical music and many other genres of music is taking place on the stages of the Å vandovo Theatre.From many others projects of Å vandovo we could notice Art Wall, projects for children and youth, educating programmes for public, literary reading or international projects in co-operation with other theatres.

Švandovo Theatre itself has almost one hundred and thirty years long tradition. More than 450 culture events are taking place in the Švandovo Theatre every year. Theatre uses for many of its productions English subtitles and so it is wide open to the international audience. There are seven productions with subtitles in the present time, this number is continually increasing. The assortment is very wide – from contemporary plays such as David Farr´s The Elton John´s Glasses, Vaclav Havel´s The Beggar´s Opera to classics as Machiavelli or Lermontov.

Švandovo Theatre is located in Smíchov, in one of the most dynamicaly expanded Prague quarters. Nearby to the Theatre are big shopping centres such as Golden Angel and New Smíchov, Hotel Anděl´s and Hotel Mövenpick, multiplex cinemas Palace Cinemas and Village Cinemas. Theatre is good available by trams and buses, Metro Line B station is also nearby.
