I heard that Traditional will be closing it's doors this month which will be a shame for me as it has been a great source of Christmas presents these past 4 years or so.
Great service and fantastic Czech arts and crafts. Something for all ages. I'm going to miss you, Traditional.

I had spent the morning wandering Prague looking for some interesting gifts and had been disappointed. In fairness I hadn't done much research ahead of time, but the crystal wasn't doing it for me and most of the goods being sold at the outdoor markets were pretty horrible.

After buying some ornaments from a crystal shop (I was getting desperate) I stumbled across Traditional. If was like a breath of fresh air. The lady who waited on me (one of the owners of the shop by the sounds of it) was very helpful (sweet is a very fair assessment for her) and clearly excited about what she and her colleagues were doing restoring these printing blocks. She told some wonderful stories about how the blocks had been used, showed me some old catalogs of prints that had been made & samples of the fabric as well.

Once I had picked out my treasures I moved on to find some amazing Christmas ornaments and she told me about the traditions surrounding the Feast of St Nicholas (I had picked out a cornhusk Angel and Saint, but hadn't understood why I needed the Devil to complete the trio, but I didn't have a chance to go wrong!).

All in all this has been the shopping highlight of my time in Prague so far - definitely worth dropping by!
