Gymnazium and Sport Gymnazium, in Prípotocní Street 1337, is one of the secondary schools in Prague 10 - Vršovice, in so-called extended central zone of Prague. As the state school it provides complete high-school education with school leaving exams after final grade. The students are accepted after passing entrance exams from math and Czech language. Before that they have to finish their compulsory school attendance at basic schools. So they start to study four year academic programme in our school at the age of 15. This educational system prepares them especially for further studies at universities but after graduation they can work in various state or private social and cultural institutions in different areas either. Every year the school opens regular classes and two sport classes with sports such as basketball, volleyball, swimming, athletics and triathlon. The schedule in these classes is slightly different from regular ones and it is modified according to the needs of the individual sports. Gymnazium supports also other activities and workshops such as drama group which has been successful for many years, art workshops, poetry, various seminars, internet groups, sport activities, kayak' s club or exchange programmes for studies abroad. Sport Gymnazium is attended by about 30 national team members studying in sport classes. After the first year students divide into groups according to their interests. They can specialize in humanities, natural sciences and mathematics or physics. Then students have more lessons in these subjects. Two foreign languages are taught in every class, three lessons a week for each of them. English is usually taught as the first foreign language and as the second language they can choose from German, French, Spanish, Latin and Russian.
