I was there last Saturday for dinner with some frinds. Service was good and the food was better than what I expected after reading all the reviews on this site.
Had the Sahara kebabs. They were juiy and nicely done. The deserts were nice too. It was perfect for a lazy dinner with friends on a saturday night. Definitely they will get my repeat business.

The ambiance and interior decor is quite relaxing. Service tends to be hit or miss but that seems to be the norm in Prague so it doesn't tend to bother me as much.Food selection is descent but tends to be pricey. Excellent selection of wines. Overall I recommend Sahara as a great place to start or end an evening but not necessarily the place to build an entire evening around.

The atmosphere is this place's only redeeming quality. I've been several times over the years but had a truly awful experience today. One of the front umbrellas blew over on my friend and I, shattering my wine glass and getting red wine all over my friend and her purse. The waitstaff not only took 5+ minutes to address the situation and come over with a wet rag (they were too busy tending to the table next to us), but (finally, after much reminding) replaced my wine with only a tiny amount and much less than I'd had left before the umbrella shattered my glass.
The cherry on top was the bill. Apparently they automatically give you double the amount of wine (and at double the price) listed in the per-glass menu. I never would have ordered a 180 crown glass of wine at a place like this, but because I drank it, they haughtily told me that it was my problem, though I was unaware it was double the normal amount. Really awful management. I will never return.

Sahara Café is in a fantastic location in the heart of P2, the food in the café is not bad at all, I was not as impressed with the restaurant downstairs however the café is well worth visiting.
The service is a bit hit and miss. It´s a little on the expensive side but considering it has as very nice atmosphere I don´t mind paying a little extra.

Nice place, excellent food (e.g. Rucola salad), good wine but cool indifferent welcome and very inpatient lady who serve to us. Unbelievable one of first questions after the order was placed: will you pay by credit card or cash.
I am Czech of origin, I am often in Prague and talk fluently my native language. Some more work motivation with friendly behaver would be welcome

Hi Gang.
I went here for a business lunch, after being suitably impressed a couple of weeks ago by the best ice coffee I ever tried in Praha.
The Lunch was great. They have a lovely garden out back, the waitresses were friendly, polite, fluent in Italian and English and left us the hell alone to have our meeting. The food was simply marvellous. I am a picky vegetarian, and not easily pleased, but this place cetainly had the quality for me.
Service and quality could not be better.
The only complaints I have are 1-- it is kinda tough on the wallet. Two plates of pasta and two appetizers and two drinks ran us 1300kc (I am Czech in some ways) and 2--The portions were small. Very small...excellent quality...but not enough for a glutton like me.

This place was an absolute delight. Went here last week, and I had the all-time best, absolutely number one ice coffee ever found in Praha.
The service was superb, excellent and the ambience of the place was terrific. I did not eat a meal here, so I cant critique that, but I am going to go back and try it.
I knock off a couple of points only because I am Czech enough to consider 135kc kinda pricey for ice cofee, but I guess ou pay for quality!
BTW, all the staff speak fluent English. I asked for my order in Czech and they responded in English, thus making me feel miserable about my rotten accent, but tha aint their fault that they are polite.
I liked this place a lot and will try it again
(but I sure as hell aint bringin the kids to this place, too classy)

Having given them an average review a while back,
I thought I would return and see how things would
be this time around. Have to admit, the food was
a lot better this time and also the service was
quite good. Hopefully they took notice of previous
reviews and have tried to put things right. Therefore I think its only fair I now give the some
credit for doing this.

My experience in Sahara was pretty good in terms of service but the food was only mediocre - considering the beautiful space, perfect location, and above average prices. I really would challenge Sahara to bring the menu standard up to the level of the wonderful design of the space.

Was there a couple of months ago as it was very near to my apartment. Tried the burger the first time and thought it was quite good, the fries were
particulary good. Went a few days later and being a bit of creature of habit, went for the same meal again to play it safe, completely different quality, the burger did not taste as good and the fries tasted stale and cold. This place has a nice setting, but they will have to make sure they look after their customers, otherwise people will just stop going.

When I read the first review by hroch, I thought "1" was the top rating... far from it. It is indeed a pity how you can waste such a gorgeous space and atmosphere by careless service and overpriced staples. Plus they do throw you out just after midnight, and bring the bill unannounced a quarter to... We were a group of 4 women, so assuming one would pick up the bill was a little unrealistic.
Shoulder shrugging was the standard level of service we experienced - and mind you, we even spoke Czech the entire evening except for a few phone calls :)
I strongly suggest the staff gets some attitude coaching!! Ideally by simply putting themselves in their customer's position... a mind-boggling exercise.

Stylish, great ambience, food OK, not cheap BUT CHECK YOUR BILL! Six of us went there last Sunday - 4 nationalities and speaking English. Service & food were OK but the promised bread had to be chased as no staff were in sight / no apology. When the bill arrived a glass of port was outrageously priced & challenged by a Czech speaker. They had charged for a BOTTLE of port and 10 minutes later a revised bill was brought with no apology. The manager was asked for & gave the good old "shrugged shoulders" treatment. Thought this old trick and the assumption that all foreigners are rich and won't check their bill was dying out - a pity!
