Admittedly I was in a rush and should have realised something was odd when I read the menu and noticed that the "Full English Breakfast" included hash browns, but I was very hungry and on my previous visit I had been impressed by the FEB which used to cost around 180Kc as far as I remember.
So I went ahead and ordered the FEB which now costs 245Kc, which is pricey but not extortionate, and forgave the inclusion of hash browns which are there to appeal to the American customers. No big deal.
I asked for my fried eggs "over easy" since being that specific should guarantee a runny yolk and no crispy bits around the edge of the white. Although I'll admit that it's not the traditional fried egg you'd expect to get in an English "Greasy Spoon" then I thought that they would know what it meant since the ingredients seemed to be targeted at an American customer.
It arrived very quickly which was great because I was starving hungry, but after tucking in I was disappointed with the eggs, which were cooked in the style of "over easy" but way overdone. The whites had gone crispy and the yolk wasn't runny.
The bacon was a back cut and a tad undercooked but very tasty. The beans and mushrooms were fine. The sausages were a complete non-event. I don't know where they bought them but they tasted of virtually nothing.
Like I said, I was in a rush so didn't have time to explain to the waiter what was wrong, but I hope someone from Banditos reads this so they know that this pricey meal isn't up to the expectations I had for it.
A full monty should have better sausages and if it includes potatoes then they should be fried mashed potatoes. There should also be an option for fried bread instead of toast.
I'm still looking for the perfect FEB here in Prague, and after 7 years the best I've had was at JJ Murphys but that was 300Kc or so which translates to £12 now.
These are hotel prices so I'd expect the perfect FEB for that money, but apparently I'm paying 50% more for a breakfast than I'd pay when going to a Little Chef in the UK and getting less for my money.
I haven't tried the Mexican food there, but if it's as Mexican as the English breakfast is English then I'm probably not missing much.
Cheers, Will

I hardly ever used to go to Banditos because it was kind of out of my way, but the few times I was there, I always had a pleasant enough experience. And being American, their Thanksgiving meals were a taste of our holiday tradition and one of the few things I had missed.
But now I've moved into the general neighborhood and find myself wandering in more often. And liking it more and more.
Their lunch specials with soup and/or dessert for a very reasonable price has helped me stretch my less valuable dollar, and the heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream with a hint of caramel I had today made for the perfect end to the meal. (I got their too late for the apple crumble. I would have had both together.)
But their Happy Hour is the real killer deal for me. I usually stop in for the beer and the appetizers, and sometimes that's enough, but most times I hang out and end up buying dinner anyway.
They have a varied enough menu that if Mexican is not your thing, there's plenty other comfort food available. (I like their breakfast burrito.) And the food is consistent, so I pretty much know what I'm getting.
Banditos has now become for me a comfortable place with good quality comfort food, and these days, I can use all the comfort I can get.

Ok, Banditos was never amazing, but I walk past it all the time so just thought I'd pop for in lunch the other day, big mistake.
Waitress came once to take my order, had to keep going up to the till for everything else. This doesn't bother me that much. I'm used to their service by now.
But omg the food. I ordered some big fajita plate that came with rice and lots of other promising goodies. It said something about it being a 'lot of food' on the menu and wasn't exactly cheap, nearly a tenner if I remember correct. But I was starving so it seemed like the right way to go.
And after my half an hour wait I looked at my plate of:
- three tiny tiny tortilla wraps
- a tablespoon of salsa
- a tablespoon of sour cream
- three tablespoons of rice
- a tiny hot plate of fajita-mix-stuff (about 3/4 green peppers, 1/8 onion, 1/8 chicken)
After paying for two more tortilla wraps and trying to string the fillings out as much as I could I was too sad and disappointed to order more.
I had to satisfy my belly with a fillet-o-fish. Pah.

We went back to Banditos for lunch on a saturday afternoon when it was very empty, with a couple of friends who'd come over from back home to visit us. We decided to take them here after we'd had such a good time last time.
My boyfriend and his friend ordered some pork burritos. my friend ordered Big Burrito after my boyfriend recommended it and i ordered the shark tacos (im allergic to red meat hence my semi-vegetarianism).
The food took absolutely AGES to come out, i was going to eat my fingernails i was that hungry! and when it did, the two porks came out first, and my friend and i waited for our orders - oh guess what! the waitress (a czech) forgot to write it down and said to me "you didnt order"! arghhh yes i did!!!! so off she went and half an hour later - hey presto it was here.
the "big" burrito was tiny, and not how we remembered it last time! so my friend asked the waitress "urm, is this the big burrito?" "yes" she shrugged and walked off.
I munched through half of my taco which was tasty to find that the 3 beer battered shark fillets were not all shark!!!!!!!!! there was one shark, and 2 BEEF!!!!!!!!!! I called the waitress over who was busy texting on her mobile phone!, she told me without even asking the chef "we are out of shark". :-| she didnt offer an apology or to bring me something else. just plain rude, and she was still texting on her mobile phone!
Still not satisfied my friend showed her the menu, pointed to the big burrito and said "are you sure this is big burrito, its not very big?" and she was like yes it is. and piddled off.
we asked for the bill and there were 4 pork burritos not 2. i was charged for my shark tacos and you knew it was coming - BEEF BURRITO! NOT big burrito.
So i told the women, i refused to pay for the 2 extra pork burritos, and the shark tacos as you would. and she took off the extra 2 porks, but wouldnt give in to the shark. so i paid for something i didnt order. :-(
as for the Beef burrito, my friend pointed at the bill and said "I ORDERED A BIG BURRITO - VELKY BURRITO" and she said "you said beef burrito"
Moral of the story - ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By all means, it is a great place and it was just our luck that we ended up in this situation. i would still recommend people to go - but best bet is breakfast and dinner when the "good staff" are there. not lunch.

About a dozen times over the past couple years when we felt like having margies my wife and I would hit Banditos, mainly for their "Let's get da cheeks reely drunk, mahn!" 2 for 1 Happy Hour ladies special. Which we always shared, no problem. After a couple rounds we'd have dinner, knowing which plates to avoid. Sometimes we brought friends along too for this promotion. The other night however the head waitress, who herself served us this way at least a half dozen times without comment, huddled with the barkeep and together they decided to put an end to these antics and charged me full price for my bit. Fair enough, if she hadn't slipped it in the bill at the end, without telling us in advance about their sudden "change in policy." My wife, who's Czech, asked what the big deal was but they wouldn't back down. Since it was this promotion and not the mediocre food that brought us back, we won't be returning to Banditos. It's typical of amateurs like these to lose regular customers just to collect an extra 100 crowns on a slow night. Adios, Banditos!

It's funny, but I was there on that very same Saturday and had pretty good service and the breakfast was excellent. I have to admit, my eggs did come scrmabled and not fried as I had ordered, but the food was plentiful and very hearty. Coffee wasn't very good and I sent it back with no charge to myself
My friend had an american breakfast and I had an English breakfast.
I've eaten at Banditos a number of times and always found the food to be high quality and the portions very generous. Sounds like someone was having a bad day..

This is not a place to visit if you are in a rush.
We sat outside on Saturday and ordered three breakfasts - two portions of bacon and eggs and toast and an egg sandwich for the veggie. The waitress did warn us that we would wait for 20 minutes as they were busy. Fifty minutes later what actually turned up was three plates of beans, two bacon sandwiches and potatoes bacon and toast.
'you have our order wrong' we said.
waitress shrugs and turns on her heels saying 'I don't know' and fails to return. We get up and take our food back in when it becomes apparent she isn't going to do anything about it. 'sorry this is not what we ordered and one of our party is vegetarian - all of these come with bacon.'
The waitress comes out, again with the same food, slams it on the table and snarls: 'and what exactly is your problem with this food?'
'It's nothing like what we ordered.'
She slams the food back down on the table picks up the sandwiches with her hands (?) and stalks off. We take the empty plates back and try to tell her what we ordered - she flounces off while we are mid sentence.
Eventually an hour and a half after we ordered we get our food. The portions are surprisingly small and absolutely stone cold. The plates were once again slammed down on the table so hard I actually thought she was going to break them.
I've had a couple of good breakfasts here before - so I know it can be okay. But this time the downright rude and incompetent staff, who left us to do the waitressing ourselves and get our own cutlery while they sat smoking has put me off going back there. At least for a while.
Might I suggest that if the 'oh so happy' waitresses are unable to get an order correct, they use a pen and paper instead of trying to keep it in their head and screaming at the customer when they get it wrong?

I went there for breakfast (which they serve all day), and it was really satisfying. Great toast, eggs, grilled vegetables, meat...the classic "diner" breakfast. Two of us shared a big platter that cost 350 czk, which left us both stuffed. Though I haven't tried other items on the menu, they seem to care about the quality of their food, at reasonable prices. The specials on the board sounded really good too (stuffed jalapenos, pancakes with ice cream, etc.). Budvar on tap (for 30 czk), cute bar, nice clean setting, with nearly appropriate decor and decent service. I would definitely recommend breakfast there!
