The First of GRANDHOTEL PUPP complex of buildings is the so-called Saxony Hall, which was built per order of mayor of in that time mayor of town Deiml, in year 1701. Doing such, the mayor of Deiml laid out the base line of later hotel constructions. At the time, when splendor of the Saxony Hall began, another mayor Andreas Becher began to govern the Carlsbad town hall.

He also had his own land in the mead at the bend of the creek and he wanted to have his own so-called Lusthaus. That is why he built it at a right angle to the Saxony Hall, in approximate position of the current MIRROR HALL and the restaurant GRAND HOTEL. Right from the beginning they began to call it the Czech Hall, separating it from the Deiml Hall.

In the year 1760 a native of Veltrusy Jan Jiří Pop came to Carlsbad, who previously worked as a confectioner to Count Rudolf Chotek. Here he took a job at the local confectioner Mitterbach. In the year 1775 he married Mitterbach´s daughter Františka who bought one third of the Czech Hall, next in the present Hotel complex of buildings, from widow of Mayor Becher.
