Why do we use the communicative method?
The communicative method means that instruction is focused on the student’s ability to react and speak. We don't want our students to become linguists and theoreticians – we want to prepare them for everyday life. We don't want our students to memorize the rules and recite them in class – we want them to be able to use these rules correctly without hesitation.
Czech can be a very difficult language to learn, and understanding it in detail requires a lot of time and energy. That is why instead of exploring the uses of the genitive, we focus on what you really want to learn such as ordering in a restaurant, booking a hotel or arranging a meeting.
What can you expect in the classroom?
There are students from many different countries in our group courses and this makes our classes even more interesting. Teachers speak in Czech from the first lessons on.
We try to create a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere in all of our courses. We don't want our students to feel worried or stressed out. We want them to really get to know and become comfortable with Czech culture and customs.
At Caledonian School the quality is important to us and we have a number of processes to assure the quality of language teaching. All processes related to testing, feedback, observations and client care are developed following ISO standards.
