Went to Lal Qila after hearing such an amazing buzz about it on tripadvisor. I must say some of the comments on trip. do not do justice to the amazing quality of food that I ate at the restaurant. We ordered tiger prawns as starters because its the new hot dish and our taste buds just went into another world, it was so good. We also ordered chicken 65 with them after reading reviews about it in prague post. We were extremely happy just from the starters and were excited to try the main course. In main we ordered, lamb tikka masala, lamb mughlai, chilli garlic naan, and goan rice. Each had different authentic flavours and were delectable and delicious in their own ways. For dessert we ate gulab jamun and kulfi which was the perfect finish to our perfect meal. I felt it was important for me to speak of the restaurant on expats as I feel that many locals may not be aware of this gem existing here. Everything from the food, the setting to the ambiance of the restaurant is A-class. Definitely will go over and over again. :-D

Having tried quite a few of the curry places in Prague, I was most impressed with their Chicken Jalfrezi, the best I have had in Prague so far. If the onion Bajee has not been slightly burnt, I probably would have awarded 10 out of 10. As the first review I was surprised by the lack of customers as the food was excellent, I guess they need more time to establish a following. It probably does not help that their menu on here cannot be accessed.

Wandered into this place last week on our way to Masala, previously my favourite Indian in Prague by far. The girlfriend spotted it, on the corner of Manesova and Italska, and stopped to look at the menu. They're cheeky to be so close to Masala, but we thought we'd give it a shot.
Well, the interior isn't much to look at; it's like they took over a pub or cheapo Czech restaurant and ran out of budget for redoing the decor, though a few sashes and other Indian touches go some way to redress it. We were eating late on a weekday so shouldn't have been too surprised at being the only customers, though an empty restaurant isn't the best atmosphere.
Still, we were there to try the food, and I'm absolutely glad we did! Hungry so we skipped the starters, going straight in for a couple of main courses, one rice and one bread, I had a beer, girlfriend had a lassi. The food arrived in due course, and was absolutely fantastic. Like Masala used to be only better, somehow a bit lighter and with some more delicate flavour. The chef is from North India but knows how to make a good spicy South Indian dish. It was a Chicken Madras, I think, wish I could remember properly, and some sort of thin, plain chappati (perfect for picking up delicious lumps of food and mopping the plate). Girlfriend had something with chickpeas, I think, which was similarly delicious with the bread or the rice.
They haven't been there long and are naturally eager to please, which might explain the gratis garlic chilli nan bread which soon appeared with the chef's good wishes, and which was a welcome addition to the table, which we left happily stuffed some 20 minutes later.
If this is typical of Lal Qila's quality, then I'm converted. This was the best Indian meal I've had since I came to Prague 7 years ago, and I'll be going back there often, with or without a funny interior and lack of other customers.
Interior: 5/10
Service: 10/10
Food: 12/10 (+2 points for the free garlic chilli nan)
Prices/value: 9/10. They're a bit cheaper than Masala (cheeky...)
