This is by far the best Indian restaurent that comes close to being authentic. Love the chicken jalfraise.. spicey and delicious... I saw a review claiming its not hygenic and the beer tastes watery.. From personal experience, I say its all rubbish because I am regular there.. The beer tastes absolutely fine and refreshing and never had any stomach problems... Curry House never dissappoints me.
"Possible Hygiene Issues"

Food and service is great and very consistent. Beer on the tap is bitter-ish and taste watered-down. More important, I don't think it's very hygienic. Had stomach troubles the last few times I went there. Also quantity of serving has reduced. All in all, given the bad beer and hygiene issues, don't think I'll be going back to Curry House.

Response by Curry House:

Dear Sir, thank you for your complaint. However, we would like to mention the following. Our beer pipes and machine are checked and cleanded every two weeks by a specialist from Pilsner Urquell. We have not yet had any compalints from anyone else regarding our beer or its quality. We always welcome any criticism and are constantly improving our services. We are a family restaurant and our goal is to make each customer feel at home with everything that comes with it. We would appreciate it if you visit us again and will do our best to provide the best service possible. On behalf of Curry House, Mamun

Being from the UK, the home of Indian cuisine (work that one out!) I do know a good curry when I taste one. This was up there close to the best I've had in the North of England. Extremely tasty. We have the Butter Chicken and Ghost Palak (lamb saag) every time - delish. Only complaint - one Saturday they coudn't deliver because they were too busy. Only tried dining in once - pleasant but lacks a bit of atmosphere.

This is a real little gem, located well off the beaten track, yet easily accessible.
The food is delicious, authentic and good value; service is quick, though friendly. Overall, great food and a very relaxed vibe. Particularly recommended is the vegetarian feast for 2 - but make sure you go there hungry!

I have been to The Curry House about 3 times in the last 6 days and absolutely love it. Went there to sit down for one dinner but most of the time I get take-away. I like to pick it up as they give me a cup of cha!!!

The food is great and the service always brilliant.

Easily the best "curry house" outside of the UK :-)
"Small Dishes"

I like this place, but the portions are a bit small and I agree with the other poster about quantity. I am tempted to go again but they should really put a few more peices of meat in those curries. I eat curries to fill me up, not just because they look good and taste nice. Otherwise, I will go and buy a long baguette and put a few spices in it.

The curry house are really good with an authentic taste, but the portions they serve just feel small to me. I think this place has great potential if they give BIGGER portions, especially the meat dishes. I tried a few curries and I still felt hungry afterwards. The quality is very good and I respect this place as being authentic.....but it's a shame about their small portions. The customer service is great here and almost everything is great, but they could really give a little more meat in their curries. I also like the 'MASALA' restaurant because and their quality is excellent AND they give good portions AND they are closer to me. If I am hungry then I need a decent portion of meat in my curry..!! A good curry is about quality and quantity.....

"Best in Prague...so far"

I've only tried a few Indian restaurants here in Prague. Mostly disappointing and not worthy of mention.
However, Curry House in Palmovka is the best I've found so far. I won't bother boring you with lots of food critic rubbish, just give it a try and I'm sure you'll agree with me and the other happy diners who have bothered to review it.
It's not out in the sticks as some say. I'd hardly call Palmovka the countryside. So get down there and enjoy some of the best Indian Prague has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

Had a delivery from them recently. Food was fresh, portions were reasonable and the flavours really good. I had the Jalfrezi as its my benchmark dish and it was a nice thick sauce with healthy amounts of ginger, onion and tomatoe. Weren't tight on the lamb which can be a complaint of other places. Up to trying curry house, Tandoor was the best place in Prague in my opionion. Curry house just pips them. They're a little bit cheaper too.

Only reason they didn't get 10\10 is because the delivery took two hours. To be fair they did warn me in advance. Lesson learnt is to order earlier in future.

Ordered a delivery from Curry House. Was amazing! arrived in approx 40 mins. Had the Dansak (firm fav dish of mine) - which was a bit too hot for me, but the spices were lovely. "Him indoors" had the vindaloo which he was also impressed with (and yes did bring tears to his eyes!). My only criticism is that I didn't think there was much chicken in my dish. but I will definitely try some more dishes - cant wait!!!! :)

Like Rana, maybe better. Also similar location.

Lamb Buna was great and I had some specialty Bangladeshi dish beginning with R, was also very good.

Best naan bread I have had in ages. Very polite people, would reccommend for curry night out, not for a romantic dinner though as the location and the restaurant lack a bit of sparkle.

I have ordered food from Curry House 5 times now - each time the quality has been quite good and the staff very friendly. Four of the five times I have had the food delivered and though it took some time it was worth the wait (I don't live so close so the delivery time was not too bad) Tonight I picked up the food in the restaurant just at Palmovka... I was sorry to see it was empty when I was there and think they deserve better. I believe this is being run by some of the staff from Taj Mahal - anyway all the flavors are good - some very good. Recommended!

Very happy with the quality, taste of food and service. the best Indian place I have found in Prague. The Tandori chicken beats what I have eaten in India too. Plus they deliver!

There are several Indian restaurants I like in Prague - especially Rana and Masala.

However, the Curry House is now right up there (maybe even at the top!) in terms of quality of the food, and the price. Plus, there is a good sized room reserved for non-smokers!

Particularly worth the trip are the Bangladeshi specials you can't find anywhere else.

The only (minor) downside is that it is far out in the suburbs (the same problem as Rana) - but for a once in a while expedition it is worth it I think.

Have dined at the Curry House twice during the last week, last saturday from the a la carte menu, everything was first class and freshly prepared by the chef/owner who took the time to come out to ask what we thought. the service was excellant and nothing was too much trouble. We chose to go again for lunch on friday, we were greeted like old friends and enjoed a budget priced lunch from the daily menu, beef channa with naan, potato curry with rice, a side order of musihroom rice and two beers total 284kc. Super value and again a chat with the chef and fantastic service definately a new favourite for us.

21.2.10

Went to the Curry Houdse again last night, it was pretty busy and as it's all prepared fresh we had a short wait for our starters, mixed thali for two, onion bhajis, samosas, both veg and meat variety and chicken tikka, all delicious. Main course was channa gosht, chicken rezela, a Bangladeshi dish, mushroom rice and garlic naan, all superb quality unfortunately, the starter was so large we couldn't do it justice so they boxed it for us and guess what wwe're having later! The quality of both the food and service is constantly good, appologies from both the waiter and owner for the food taking a little longer than usual, but what heck, it's worth the wait. Looking forward to our next visit.

I thought and tried every curry place in Prague, yet only happened to stumble upon this little place by accident when looking for somewhere else. I only live across the bridge, so was immediately interested and ordered delivery the same night. Great quality food, friendly service, on time delivery, English spoken. Admittedly have not dined in the restaurant itself yet, but had a look through the door and it looks quite cosy - possibly more in a cafe than restaurant style, a good place for a laidback lunch or dinner with friends, for example.
"Our new fave Indian restaurant in Prague - worth a try"

Past experience has shown me that in Prague popularity often leads to falls in quality. If indeed true, then I shall probably some day regret writing this.

However, the prospet of seeing this establishment close through lack of custom is too hard to bear, so I call all you lovers of Indian food to take a look and get yourselves down to Curryhouse.

My gf and I found this place after having tried every other Indian restaurant or takeaway in Prague. As it happens, Curryhouse is not so far from where we live. For many others though I'm sure the location will be it's main achilles heel, as it is stuck out in P8 where it borders with P9. It is situated a street up from Metro Palmovka - 1 min walk - clearly marked on web site

http://www.curryhouse.cz/

The menu is large and so will cater for every taste bud out there. Please note, inside is clean, freshly renovated, and all in order, but the decor is a little bland and uninspired. Reminds me of Masala in P2, albeit with a lot more space between tables.

However, the quality of food alone should sell this place in my opinion. My gf raves about the Butter Chicken, which she says is better than any she has tasted before. Her single-minded obsession with this dish probably makes her quite the expert, this coupled with the fact she has travelled to India 3 times means she has tried it more places than you can possibly imagine.

My own opinion is that some establishments prepare certain dishes better than others. I expect then that some of you might still walk away preferring the way another restaurant preps your fave dish. My old fave was superseded when I went to Curryhouse for the 1st time. I have now formed a new love interest - sssssh! don't tell the missus - her name is Lamb Jalfrazie, probably the best I can remember eating in many years. The Saag dishes are also delicious, thankfully made with fresh spinach leaf, rather than the frozen option I have seen at so many other places. Their take on the infamous Phall super-curry is also very well executed - *$!& HOT, but very tasty and edible in that the fresh chilli has been properly infused within the meat, and not just a Vindaloo sprinkled over with more chilli powder.

Like any newly discovered restaurant, I am slowly trying to work my way through the menu, but it is hard work at Curryhouse simply because I just want to have the same dish every time. I mentioned this place to my Indian colleagues at work and they agreed about the food being damn good.

I hope then this mail tweaks your curiosity enough to give these guys a try. I still believe a lot of people out there do not know about them.

My apologies for not having written a more specific and descriptive review on the dishes themselves, but frankly I don't have the skills for that. The menu is on the web site, the prices clearly marked, and we think the food is totally fab.

Go try it..........I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Cheers
S
