have to agree with Coco on this one.. went there with a few friends for my birthday this summer.
the atmosphere is great, the gypsy band was fun but the food was only okay... not worth the price and I do think there were some odd charges on the bill..
good place to go for a drink or two but only because it's cute.
much better food to be found at a myriad of other places in town..

For atmosphere, this place is great, which is why it receives a rather generous 3 instead of the 1 rating it truly deserves. The food is meaty and average. The atmosphere though is, in part, because of the coach loads of tourists that are trucked in at the beginning of the night. A gypsy band plays live most nights. It´s all very jovial and quite quaint inside.
I was here with my parents for an anniversary dinner. The musicians came and played by our table, we tipped them generously. Then the bill came. Not only had we been charged a cover charge for eating there, we´d also been charged a ‘music´ charge as well. A quick look at the bill revealed that several coffees, glasses of wine, a starter and Christ knows what else had mysteriously arrived on our bill. There was also a service charge on top if I remember rightly.
I have lived here a long time and I have met the best of Czech in terms of rude incompetent serving staff, but nothing prepared me for the sneering harridan that served us. I know that I had to swallow the cover charge, it was there in .5 lettering on the menu. But when I questioned the rest of the bill she point blank refused to remove the items that we had not received or ordered. I questioned the music charge which was not listed anywhere on the menu. At this point our bill was nearly 1000 CZK above the actual listed food price. Anyway to cut a long story short it resulted in us throwing down the money for what we´d had (including the cover charge) on the table and walking out of the restaurant with her and two waiters chasing us. Only when they threatened to call the police and my father flashed his warrant card and said ‘I am the police - go ahead and call them love because I´d really like to talk to them´ did they eventually skulk away with their tails between their legs.
My friend has also had a similar experience here. She paid the extra because she didn´t want to cause a fuss but decided not to tip. However the waitress refused to give her the change as it was ‘too small´ an amount for her to walk to the till.
If you come here be prepared.
