has been founded on the Kodl family's tradition of collecting art that was
started in the second half of the 19th century by Ing. arch. Jan Kodl
(1855-1903), a collector, patron of the arts and contractor in the South
Bohemian own of Pisek. His son Ing.arch Jiri Kodl (1889-1954) followed in his footsteps, a well
respected architect, he was a member of cultural group Manes, and a great
collector and close friend of many of the cultural and political avant-garde of
Czechoslovakia between the two world wars. During communism the collecting
tradition was continued by his son Pavel Kodl, an expert on Czech art from the
second half of the 19th and first half of the 20th century, until his death
expert consultant of Antikva Nova Kodl. It is on this tradition that the current
gallery and auction house, led by fourth generation PhDr. Martin Kodl, a
graduate of Charles University and certified expert specialising in Czech art
from the second half of the 19th and first half of the 20th century has it's
foundation. Our gallery puts great emphasis on a high level of expertise and
guarantee of authenticity on pieces of art sold. This level of professionalism
is not only guaranteed by PhDr. Martin Kodl, but by a range of top Czech art
