Having been to Olive on a few occasions, I can state that I've always been delighted to eat there. Whether you're looking to have lunch or dinner, the experience is always a treat.
Their hospitaly, service, and ambience fused with their intriguing menu and ample wine list will always leave you content.
I recommend the all-you-can-eat Tiger Prawns followed by a nice walk along the Vltava river.
Enjoy!

After all the recent good reviews of Oliva, I decided to try it over the past weekend, and you can sign me up on that same list of satisfied clients. Its definitely located well away from the annoying tourist trails. Nice and cozy inside and the owners/servers are fantastic in providing subtle yet anticipative service. I'd say its an informal interpretation of fine dining and the Mediterranean menu has something for everyone. Family friendly and fairly priced for good quality ingredients. Finally a place I will take friends and family when visiting me in Prague!

A little bit off the beaten path in Vyserad...It's definitely worth the trip.
The food is fantastic and the owners/hosts are very nice as well. There's always a choice of 3-4 starters and entrees to select...and the Chocolate fondant is fantastic...The menu changes every couple of months.
We've had both romantic dinners and large parties at Oliva.
Simply the best restaurant in Prague.

After reading the reviews we decided to try Oliva.. and I can say that I was very impressed. The atmosphere was very homey yet with some cool trendy Buddah-Bar like background music. I can't call this really "medeteranian" at least based on what I think of but that did not matter... we liked it and will return for sure!
The waitstaff, of which one was the owner was a delight. Very nice man- you can tell he cares of his food and service. I ordered a sea bass whole fish and he offered to filet it for me and remove the bones- this was done table side. They were very flexible as well, as I did not care for fennel which was served with fish and instead I got these wonderful grilled veggies.
Really good food, good friendly service and the price for two with two appetizers, two entrees, three beers and one water was 970CZ. Not Bad.
Ohh I forgot to mention that the bread served at the table was VERY fresh and it was accompanied by three different types of olive oils (greek, itlalian and spanish) Very good!
TRY IT!

I have been there time and time again, and will continue to do so.
Peter and his wife, Svetlana, are the most charming, attentive and helpful restaurant owners on the planet. I have lived all around the world (England, USA, Hong Kong, Japan and Germany), and this is by far the best "local" I have found.
The chef is the ex head chef from Atelier, and he definitely knows his cooking.
There is a no smoking section for those who want it, and a sort of crčche with toys for anyone who wants to leave their kids to play while they enjoy a good meal in peace.
Some people would say that it's pricey, but the daily menu is a complete bargain, and if you go for dinner there and avoid the really expensive wines and stick to the cheaper ones, or cocktails (Caipirinha for 95Kc is a treat, and actually made with cachaça, rather than the usual Rum substitute you get in most places), then you will experience great cooking, fantastic service and come away feeling that you got great value for money.
They also do "All you can eat" special themed weekends, for a flat rate of around 700Kc.
We have been there for the Thai weekend, Prawns weekend, Mussels weekend and will be there for this weekend's Lebanese special.
I really, honestly can't recommend this place too highly. It's just nirvana.
And if you don't fancy anything on the menu (which is highly unlikely), then ask for what you would like, and if they have the ingredients, the chef will make it for you (I'm not sure this applies to first time customers, but I've done this a couple of times. The caveat is that I'm a regular there).
Just go there. Please. Try it. This sort of restaurant is one in a million, and every one of my friends I have taken there is now a major Oliva fan. That includes three people who are professional cooks.
Cheers, Will

I came here on the reccomedation of expat.cz's intrepid reviewer. I was not disappointed.
The decor is tasteful, the music perfect and not intrusive, the menu interesting the service friendly and attentive.
Actually i'll say that again because it's so rare in this country - the service was FRIENDLY and ATTENTIVE.
Loved the tomato tart starter, although wasn't blown away by the shrimp starter. The specials were tasty, the beef of good quality and they were quite happy to tailor an order to my requirements.
I'll certainly go back again.
