I've been living in Prague for the passed four years now and I frequently visit fine dining restaurants in Prague. I have put off coming to the Kampa Park restaurant during my time in Prague because of the mixed reviews I often hear and also because of rumours of astronomical prices.
After I had booked our reservations (my girlfriend and I had dinner on the 23rd of July 2010 at Kampa Park) I read a lot of reviews which kept on commenting on how high the prices were! I can reveal that the prices are surprisingly, very fair. Dinner for two without alcohol came to around 3000Kc. This is the same as all of the other fine dining restaurants in Prague. Recently I have been to Bellevue and Celeste and both of these restaurants charge around the same prices - Celeste is probably the most expensive out of the three!
The food at Kampa Park was stunning! This was a meal that I will remember for a long time. I had sweetbreads for starters, trio of duck (which included a perfectly cooked piece of foie gras) for mains and vanilla ravioli for dessert. The dessert was the only course which I thought wasn't that great. The flavours worked, but it wasn't very exciting on the palate. I was hoping for more textures and it would've tasted better if they played around with different temperatures of the different elements of the dish. My girlfriend is vegetarian and she was pleased to find that Kampa Park cater for vegetarians by dedicating a whole part of the menu to them. She said it's her favourite fine dining restaurant in Prague after the meal.
I think it's worth talking about portion sizes at this point. The portions were smaller than one would hope for. Bellevue has bigger portions, but Celeste has smaller portions. However, I still felt satisfied after the meal, but since the dishes tasted so nice I would've really appreciated some bigger portions. But, I think the old adage "quality over quantity" applies here. The quality of the ingredients was superb and when I asked my waiter where the foie gras was from, he informed us it was from France. So, it's easy to see why you should expect the prices to be what they are.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing. We were sat on the terrace with a stunning view of Charles Bridge. There were also lots of ducks and ducklings swimming nearby, which was nice.
The service was very good, however sometimes it wasn't the best. When we were given dessert we needed forks but it took us around five minutes to get someone´s attention. Nothing occurred which I felt was a "major" mistake though, just one or two minor incidences.
When we finished our meal the waiter asked if we wanted a taxi - we asked for a taxi from AAA. A couple of minutes later the waiter came back and said that he couldn't get a AAA taxi and offered us a free Limousine ride back home instead! This was a perfect ending to a perfect night.
I highly recommend this restaurant for romantic dates and for people who enjoy fine dining. Please don't make the same mistake as I did and not consider going as it's too "touristy". There were in fact, many Czechs dining at the restaurant within ear shot when I went!

I had a bad experience with service in Kampa and left pretty disappointed.
First when we were escorted to our seats in the so called heated terrace we were not offered a choice between a table at the heating or one without. Later arriving guests were offered that choice I noticed. As a result of this we ended up at a table without heating and my girlfriend was cold whole evening (reason for us to leave without taking desert.)
Secondly we asked for the Xmas menu but were told by the waiter that there was no Xmas menu because they were out of ingredients while I noticed upstairs in the Winter Garden that there were menu´s at the table so I wonder what was true of this story, also they advertised it on their website. Lastly I noticed that the whole time while we were in the restaurant there were places available in the Wintergarden, while I asked for a place there when I made the reservation but was told it was all fully booked.
All together this is enough reason for me to never visit the restaurant again and didn´t have the Xmas evening I expected.
PS. I must admit the food was absolutely tasty and nothing to complain about that but the service obviously needs huge improvement.
As a reaction i recieved the following.
Unfortunately you are absolutely right.
There has become a big mistake made by my managers in spite of the waiter who answered very crazy.
I just like to explain that because of our members we cannot book any table in the winter garden in advance because they are used to sit there any time they like.
Jarda has confirmed the heated terrace for you what was written in comments in your booking. Unfortunately nobody else could know that you would prefer wg instead. If you would mention it by your arriving, we would try our best to provide you with that table.
Anyway we have made lot of mistakes and therefor we would like to invite you to Kampa park for free lunch or dinner (we have sent vouchers on your address). We hope that you will give us one more chance to repair our reputation.
We are really sorry for all what heppened.
Than i recieved 2,000 KC in vouchers, while a menu in Kampa (soup, main and desert) cost around 1,400 Kc (this is exclusive drinks) so it is not even enough to go with 2 people, while i visited the restaurant with 4 people and spent near to 9,000 Kc.
So i wonder what their idea is about a free lunch or dinner.
All together in my opinion the price/quality is not in balance in this Restaurant.

I had been to Kampa Park about 4 years ago (not too long after the floods) and it was entirely disappointing: view was great but the food was mediocre and service surprisingly poor. However, we heard good things recently, and while it would normally be prohibitively expensive for me, I was happy when my father (his first time in Prague) offered to take us.
The prices will prevent most from going: an average main course is 900 CZK, and dinner for four of us came in at just under 10.000 CZK. This was one of the most expensive restaurants I've ever been to, including many upscale NYC joints.
But everything was exceptional. Most high-end places have but a single vegetarian option on the menu, but the choices at KP were ample, and the Spinach Souffle was one of the best dishes I've ever had - rich, creamy, delicious. A pear & cheese salad was also perfect. Everyone else highly enjoyed their meat-centered dishes. Only complaint (for me) was the souffle was a bit small - I could have easily eaten 2-3 of them
Our wine, recommended by the waiter (a Stapleton & Springer Frankovka) was fantastic, and surprisingly, one of the cheaper options on the menu at 700 CZK. It had this strong hint of dill that I've never sampled from a wine before - a bit jolting at first, but it grew on me and went perfectly with the meal. I've been looking for it since to no avail (outside of a few other high-end Prague restaurants - it's not even on the S&S website!)
But most surprising, compared to my last visit, was the service. Bar none, best in Prague; I was at Hergetova Cihelna, right next door, a few months ago and there was just no comparison (even though both restaurants belong to Kampa Group; the food at Cihelna, BTW - especially the vegetarian options - is also not up to snuff.) The waiters were friendly, helpful, professional, and completely accomodating - better service than I've had at most restaurants in most other countries, and a real jolt after living in Prague for 5 years. My father's steak was a tad undercooked, and he asked to send it back (which he always seems to do if it isn't burnt to a crisp). Not only did they take it back & cook it to perfection, they also offered us a free round of desserts! Incredible. The chocolate fondant was absolutely heavenly; my vanilla 'ravioli' was good but paled in comparison. I only ordered it to be different as everyone else ordered the fondant :(
In the entrance are photos of famous patrons, including Clinton, Schwarzenegger, Depp, etc., with their names underneath often misspelled (including Ben Kinsey and Nastascha Kinsky).
In all, this is one of the finest restaurants I've been to, having greatly improved in recent years. I cannot reccommend it more highly, as long as you aren't paying.

Beautiful setting on the Vltava just below Charles Bridge. A warren of fabulously decorated dining rooms and terraces. Food is very good and service attentive

Went here for Christmas dinner.
Originally booked a table for the main river terrace where I have sat before on one previous lunch occasion. However, on arrival there was sufficient room and the waiter suggested the Winter Garden as an alternative. The staff called this table the best in the place and it has wonderful views of the Charles Bridge. It is much more intimate and cosy than the main terrace too with I think just 4 tables.
Starters -
Seared scallops with pancetta. Scallops not over-cooked and the accompanying foam/sauce was a pleasant surprise
Main -
Duck breast and foie gras which was served in THE most delicious sauce reduction ever.
Dessert -
Creme Catalana with chocolate-orange truffles. How did it taste? let me put it this way......I really took my time with this one :)
The service is attentative without being obtrusive. The wine list is excellent, and the food was as usual very good indeed. I believe they truly excell at their desserts though for I am rarely excited by the last course of a meal but the ones on the menu here are quite exquisite. I intend to try them all! :)
*tip - if you live in Prague or visit frequently consider registering for the frequent diners card. I think info is on their website
Bon Appetit !
