Maybe Pippi caught them on a bad night! Been there twice and had good meals both times, lamb cutlets were excellant, as was my husbands huge half duck.
Our only bad impression was a badly behaved American child being allowed to crawl round screaming by his parents who clearly had no respect for their fellow diners.

- "Cerny Baron - Awful!"

Oh, am I in the mood for a rant!
Last night, myself and some colleagues from various places in Europe found ourselves in Cerny Baron after finding the listing on Expats.cz.
After a mediocre and uneventful meal (no awkward request or incidences) we asked for the bill, which was eventually slapped on the table and the waitress disappeared.
As we had no change, we took the bill to the cash desk with intentions of picking what each of us had and paying for it ourselves. Slightly annoying for staff but no big deal in Cz as far as I can see.
Well. The barman (aka manager according to himself) threw the bill back at us and shouted "bloody tourists, I have no bloody change, I hate you all, you should be grateful I let you into this wonderful restaurant, just pay the bill in one exact change transaction and make sure you include the 300kr service charge that I took upon myself to include". Or something similar, I'm not that fluent in Cz.
It was so bad, it was actually funny. We eventually got some change from him and paid up. Minus the service charge, of course. And I stole their lighter they lent me, alls well that ends well.
So dear Expats, think twice before you go to or recommend this Cerny Baron to anyone. It really annoys me that they treat tourists so bad because it is limited repeat business, but there are so many great Cz restaurants with lovely people trying to earn a living. Walk a few blocks, and give them your dosh instead.
