My wife and I visited the Baráčnická Rychta, having read some favourable recommendations and checked out the restaurant's website.

The first thing to say is that the prices were far more expensive than suggested on the restaurant's home page.

My wife had the chicken noodle dish, which had no noodles! It did have chips and a kind of chinese curry sauce and she found it enjoyable enough, nevertheless.

I had the Farmers' Plate, which was a generous helping of roast pork, smoked ham, goose, potato and bread dumplings and the ubiquitous two kinds of sauerkraut.

It was a tasty dish if (like the chicken noodlechips) inappropriately garnished with lettuce that was well on its way to being composte before the lower depths of the cabbage had been plumbed.

There was a little gristle in the meat and it was clear that the goose had lived a full and exhausting life before being put out of its misery to land in my earthenware bowl.

However, all things considered, both meals were satisfying and tasty.

The decor was pleasant with the feel of an old hall (which is what it is) and the service was efficient, if lacking in warmth. The beer waiter was attentive to his customers but the restaurant waiter, while doing nothing wrong per se, neither made much of an effort to be welcoming.

Our overall verdict was that we actually probably would go back again but would hesitate to recommend it to friends.
